Meet Tiffany

Dr. Tiffany Thompson is a well-rounded, proven, healthcare and non-profit organization leader with a passion for helping others realize their maximum potential while experiencing deep fulfillment in their daily lives and professional work. Dr. Thompson is a certified professional coach, trainer, and public speaker, doctorally-prepared in executive leadership in population health.

Tiffany has a very rich and diverse background. Her personal and professional experiences have given her unique perspective and insight, which, along with her caring approach, make her an effective communicator, collaborator, and teacher. She knows what it means to struggle and understands the effort it takes to overcome seemingly impossible obstacles to chase dreams and achieve lofty goals. From becoming a wife at the age of 17 and mother of two sweet babies by the age of 20, to adopting her teenage son from Africa and teaching him the English language at the age of 26, she understands what it means to find courage and confidence while facing tremendous adversity.

In her 30's, Tiffany finally achieved her dream of going to college and became a registered nurse. Once a professional nurse, she quickly moved into nursing leadership, directly leading teams of 60 to 100 employees. In this time, Tiffany completed a national certification in oncology nursing along with her Bachelor and Master of Science degrees in nursing concentrating on leadership and management. She later advanced into senior leadership where she oversaw more than a dozen departments and several hundred employees while spearheading many critical projects and initiatives within her health system.

Diagnosed with breast cancer in 2019, she went through 6 aggressive cycles of chemotherapy, 25 rounds of radiation, 12 months of targeted therapy, and 6 surgeries in just 2 years. During that time, she worked full-time and led her clinical teams through the COVID-19 pandemic while achieving great results and steadily completing coursework to finish her Doctor of Nursing Practice degree at Xavier University.

Dr. Thompson now enjoys healthcare consulting, coaching, teaching, and serving as Executive Director of Valens Solutions, a nonprofit organization she and Tom founded in 2019. She co-leads a health and wellness ministry at her church, serves on the health and human services subcommittee of Welcome Dayton, and is a member of Women in Christian Leadership.

Tiffany does not let her circumstances define her and she knows a thing or two about being resilient and looking to the future with hope and optimism. She is passionate about growing others and helping them find their path to a deeply fulfilling life, both personally and professionally.

Being a clinical leader and navigating the healthcare system as a cancer patient only intensified her convictions for competent, compassionate, high-quality care delivery. So, she values her time working with hospital teams to elevate their practice and improve clinical care and patient outcomes. She is also extremely passionate about developing effective, high-quality leaders and feels very grateful for the opportunity to coach and mentor others. Like John Maxwell, she believes everyone deserves to be led well, which requires leaders who know how to lead well.

Let Dr. Thompson help you navigate personal and professional challenges and/or build skills to sustain you through your life or career. Whatever you or your organization are facing - she will help you find your way.

- VP, Human Resources

As a new manager, I could not shake the voices of self-doubt that seemed to grow louder each day. I was fully engulfed by imposter syndrome. Dr. Thompson recognized my feelings of self-doubt and allowed me to express my harsh self-assessment in a safe, open environment. She provided space for me to reflect on my feelings and decisions before providing me with reassurance of who I was and what I could achieve.

Her coaching gave me the opportunity to explore my self-doubt, and she presented a path to self-assurance and success.  Dr. Thompson shared her own experiences to foster trust and to demonstrate the human vulnerability in all of us.  Her conviction, encouragement, consistency, and honest feedback allowed me to embrace the challenges of my position with a new confidence. I have grown into my role as a confident, self-assured leader with a willingness to self-reflect in an honest and fair way, and I now know I am a strong, capable leader. Dr. Thompson’s guidance has helped me continue to achieve professional success.

- Director of Nursing

Dr. Thompson exudes confidence, compassion, and honor. When I met her, she immediately made me feel as an equal. She possesses an innate ability to make me feel better about myself and that has driven me to want to perform at a higher level. Working with her, growing in our professional relationship, I began to desire to do "more." She helped me understand that we must constantly strive to better ourselves for the benefit of others. She made me see that the work I was doing was impacting the future for the better, and she highlighted the importance thereof. The seeds she planted in me grew into me pursuing my doctorate, becoming a professor and mentor to others. I can attest that without Dr. Thompson, I would not be as far along in my journey today.
